Genesis Overview

Genesis is an English rock band that formed in Surrey, England in 1967. The band has gone through several different lineups over the years, but the most famous and successful one consisted of Phil Collins (vocals, drums), Tony Banks (keyboards), and Mike Rutherford (bass guitar, guitar). Genesis started out as a progressive rock band with long, complex songs that stood out for their lyrical and musical refinement. Their early albums, such as "Foxtrot" and "Selling England by the Pound," are still seen as classics in the progressive rock genre. In the 1980s, Genesis changed their sound to become more accessible to a broader audience. Songs like "Invisible Touch" and "Land of Confusion" became big hits and helped the band increase their commercial success. In addition to their musical accomplishments, Genesis was also known for their extravagant live performances, including elaborate costumes and stage sets. The band has played countless concerts all over the world and has sold over 100 million albums in total. In 1996, Phil Collins left the band and Genesis continued with various replacement singers, including Ray Wilson and later Collins' own son, Nic Collins. In 2021, Genesis returned with a new tour and their first album in 14 years, "The Last Domino?", in which the band returned to their classic sound and reunited with their fans. Genesis remains an influential and beloved band in rock history and their music has inspired generations of fans. Their creative experimentation and commercial successes have made them one of the most iconic rock bands in the world.
